SGRE BST Fire Awareness (SE-P-49030)

Purpose

The aim of this course is to qualify the participants to prevent fires, conduct initial and appropriate judgement when evaluating a fire, manage evacuation of personnel to ensure all are safely evacuated and accounted for in the event of an unmanageable fire emergency and, if it is judged to be safe, to effectively extinguish an initial fire by using basic hand held fire extinguishing equipment.

Objectives

On course completion the participants must be able to:
  • - Explain how fire develops and spreads
  • - Explain the causes of fires in wind turbines and risks associated with fires in wind turbines
  • - Identify signs of fire in a wind turbine environment
  • - Explain how to use the contingency plan of a wind turbine, including smoke detection and emergency escape procedures
  • - Demonstrate correct actions when fire is detected, and fire is observed, including correct use of fire extinguishing equipment by means of available fire extinguishing equipment in a WTG
On course completion the participant:
  • - Is considered competent to work with fire awareness and can access SGRE turbines in accordance with SGRE PRO-15833 Ap2 Siemens Gamesa Access Safety Training.

Who should attend?

Personnel working in the wind industry or related fields needing to obtain/refresh their Fire Awareness certificate.

Prerequisites

All participants attending this training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating.
Participants shall sign a statement that they are medically fit to participate and they do not suffer from any medical illness or are under influence of any narcotic substance or alcohol.

Notes

The Fire Awareness training can consist of first time delegates and refresher delegates in the same classroom.
This course is based on GWO Fire Awareness Training Standard content and enables course participants to achieve same skills and competencies as in GWO Fire Awareness course.
