Structural Blade Repair Competency test (SE-P-16750)

Purpose

The overall purpose of the course is to test the knowledge and skills of the participants regarding structural blade repair and their ability to follow the SGRE available Work Instructions (WI) and procedures.

Objectives

Upon completion of the test the participants have:
  • - Demonstrated their skills in execution of repairs according to relevant Work Instructions (WI) and Checklists (CH) which are used in SGRE
  • - Explained with own words the structure of the blade and the relation between inner and outer laminate by analyzing the laminate plan.
  • - Demonstrated safe and proper handling of grinding/sanding machines and the usage of appropriate PPE according to relevant safety rules in the Work Instructions (WI)
  • - In practice shown that their repair skills are at a quality as specified in the Work Instructions (WI)
  • - Discussed and argued, why the repair is of good or bad quality.
  • - Demonstrated how to plan the work effectively, so that the work gets done correctly and in the shortest possible time according to time limits given by the instructor.
  • - Shown how to use appropriate PPE according to relevant Work Instructions (WI) with respect to the material (filler, paint and resin etc.) being used.
  • - Demonstrated how to document (photo card, check lists, etc.) the repair work both before, during and after repair work.
  • - Shown how to work safely with epoxy, mixing 2-component material and handling it as specified in the relevant Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • - Demonstrated and performed quality control on own and others' fiberglass repair with with relevant technical explanation according to Work Instructions (WI).
  • - Demonstrated correct sorting of waste.

Who should attend?

This test is intended for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy'sand approved subcontractor's employees whose duties are to persom Structural Blade Repair on SGRE blades. This test is an opportunity for blade technicians entering SGRE with experience from other blade types, to have their knowledge and skills tested.

Prerequisites

  • - It is the responsibility of the participant's employer/supervisor/foreman that the participant has the adequate blade repair field experience to participate and pass the Structural Blade Repair Competency test.
  • - Epoxy and/or Polyester Safety (SE-P-16940)
  • - For TC DK: Personal Safety when working with Epoxy and Isocyanates in accordance with Executive Order No. 1793, issued by the Danish Working Authority (SE-P-20900)

Notes

When passing the SE-P-16750 Structural Blade Repair Competency test the participant gains the Structural Blade Repair qualification.
If the test is not passed, the full SE-P-16700 Structural Blade Repair must be completed and passed.
