Generic Portable Power Ascender Equipment Lift (SE-P-09600)
Purpose
The purpose of this course is, by theoretical and practical training to give delegates skills and competence to safely operate, maintain and inspect the Generic Portable Ascender Equipment and components in equipment lifting operations.Objectives
Upon completion of the course the Delegates are able to demonstrate their knowledge and skills:Describe global lifting legislation and regulations.
Describe how to find global and or national lifting legislation and regulations on site
Explain how to mark of the area surrounding the tower
Explain what Work Load Limit (WLL) is
Explain what Safe Work Load (SWL) is
Explain a "Stop Work" situation if SWL is exceeded
Explain how to find the Risk Assessment on site
Explain the requirement to the inspection of equipment documentation
Demonstrate how to perform basic communication during lifting operations
Explain the risk and hazards associated with the use of a portable ascender
Show and explain how to mitigate the risk and hazards associated with the use of a portable ascender
Explain when and how the ascender must not be used
Demonstrate how to conduct a pre-use inspection of the portable device, according to the manufacture manual
Show and explain the controls of the portable ascender
Show and explain the emergency controls and procedures
Explain the requirements for a rope for equipment lifting purposes
Identify the rope for equipment lifting purposes
Demonstrate how to conduct a pre-use inspection of the rope
Demonstrate how, to mitigate risks associated with but not limited to; heat damage, chemical contamination, sharp edges and conduct rope management
Show how to use the Emergency Stop during loading and unloading the rope in the portable device
Explain how to prepare the rope for lifting operations
Demonstrate how to tie a figure of eight knot
Show and explain how to inspect and use PPE including but not limited to helmet, protective eyewear, earplug (if applicable), gloves, safety shoes, harness, cow tail, rescue sling and fall arrester(s) (if applicable)
Demonstrate how to conduct a pre-use inspection and use of anchor slings (wire and webbing), ladder hanger, carabiners, pulley, rope protection for edges and adjustable lanyard for work positioning
Demonstrate how to conduct a pre-use inspection of the lifting equipment including but not limited to rigging plate, slings (wire and webbing), carabiners and pulley
Describe when to use a running ascender setup
Demonstrate how to anchor the ropes with a figure of eight knot
Demonstrate how to load the rope in the portable ascender (according to the manufacture manual)
Demonstrate how to conduct a test lift (with burden)
Demonstrate how to descend and ascend the running ascender setup
Demonstrate how to use the remote (if applicable)
Demonstrate how to conduct an emergency descend with throttle and/or remote (if applicable)
Describe when to use a top rigged setup
Demonstrate how to anchor the ropes and pulley with a figure of eight knot
Demonstrate how to conduct a pre-use inspection of the portable ascender, according to the manufacture manual
Demonstrate how to descend and ascend the top rigged setup
Demonstrate how to use the remote (if applicable)
Demonstrate how to conduct an emergency descend with throttle and/or remote (if applicable)
Describe when to use a bottom rigged setup
Demonstrate how to anchor the portable device and pulley
Demonstrate how to conduct a pre-use inspection of the portable ascender, according to the manufacture manual
Demonstrate how to load the rope in the portable ascender (according to the manufacture manual)
Demonstrate how to conduct a test lift (with burden)
Demonstrate how to descend and ascend the bottom rigged setup
Demonstrate how to use the remote (if applicable)
Demonstrate how to conduct an emergency descend with throttle and/or remote (if applicable)
Explain how to conduct a rope ascender setup with deviation or ratio
Explain how to calculate SWL for a rope ascender setup with deviation or ratio

Purpose
The purpose of the course is through theoretical and practical training, to give attendees the knowledge and skills needed to perform daily work with rigging in accordance with Siemens Gamesa DOC. 14.38 "Lifting operations standard".

Objectives
Participants must be able to carry out their work duties in safe and sound manner in accordance with the geographic location legislative requirements. Upon successful completion, participants must obtain below necessary knowledge and skills.
The participants must obtain knowledge about:
- - National/regional lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations relevant to the geographic work location
- - Use of different crane types
- - SWL (Safe work load)
- - Sling various loads
- - Transfer loads
- - Communicate by hand signals and radio in accordance with the valid version of Siemens Gamesa Basic safety rules
- - Make visual inspection on different rigging tools
